iDIN

Increasing digital services and the European regulation of electronic identifiers (eIDAS) and the European Privacy Regulation (GDPR) have led to a growing need for certainty about the identity of customers and users and for a familiar and secure means of identification. With iDIN a customer can confirm his identity online because he has already identified himself when opening a bank account.

What is iDIN?

iDIN is a service provided by the banks that allows consumers to access other organisations using the secure and trusted logins of their own bank:

  • identify
  • confirm age

You want to log in to a web shop, insurance company or government agency, but forgot your password …. and what was your username again? Wouldn’t it be nice if you could log in the same way everywhere? That is possible, directly with iDIN.

Our animation shows you how iDIN works and how to use it.

How does it work?

iDIN is similar to the way you use internet banking. For example, you want to log into your personal environment with your insurance company.

  • Choose iDIN as the online identification/login method.
  • Select the bank where you arrange your banking online.
  • You will be directed to the iDIN start screen of your bank.
  • Log in with the login of your bank. The information that the insurance company wants to receive from you has already been filled in.
  • Click on the “Accept” button.
  • Return to the insurance website and you are logged in.

More information

On the iDIN website, we will help you on your way with all the useful information. For consumers, companies and institutions and for suppliers of identity services. iDIN.nl is the starting point for anyone who wants to know more about this new way of identifying.

Want to offer iDIN?

With iDIN a customer can confirm his identity. Consumers can significantly reduce the number of accounts they use with iDIN. As a result, they forget passwords less often and are assured of a secure login. They also need to provide data less often. This saves time, manpower and paperwork for acceptors and increases conversion. In short: an efficiency improvement in online identification, with an eye for ease of use, return on investment and increasingly stringent security and privacy requirements from the legislator.

Do you want your customers to be identified or logged in easily and safely? You must then conclude an iDIN agreement with one of the participating acquirers (entrepreneurial bank) or a Digital Identity Service Provider (DISP) that offers various services to acceptors. They can inform you about costs and the (technical) possibilities to implement iDIN on your website. More information for Merchants.
